After years away, Harper “Happy” McBride (Reba McEntire) — a sharp, independent Nashville entrepreneur — returns to her hometown when her estranged father passes away. She expects to tie up loose ends quickly, but life has other plans when she discovers he’s left her the deed to his beloved dive bar, Happy’s Place.
Running the bar “temporarily” throws her right back into the heart of the town she left behind — and face-to-face with her colorful childhood friends. Shirley (Melissa Peterman), her loud, lovable bestie, still treats the bar like her personal stage; Nina (Niecy Nash-Betts), the town’s truth-teller and karaoke queen, keeps everyone grounded; Eli (Karan Brar), a well-meaning young bartender, dreams of turning the bar into something bigger; and Margot (Laura Benanti), a big-city developer, arrives with plans to tear it down — until the town’s spirit wins her over.
Between laughter, music, and memories, Happy learns that you can’t run from your roots — and sometimes, happiness isn’t something you chase. It’s something waiting for you right where you started.
