Set in 1990s Los Angeles, The Little Things follows Joe “Deke” Deacon, a worn-down sheriff’s deputy who gets pulled into a high-profile murder investigation while on a routine evidence pickup. His sharp instincts quickly attract the attention of LAPD Detective Jim Baxter, who is leading the case. Despite Deke’s tarnished past, the two form an uneasy partnership to find the serial killer terrorizing the city.

As they investigate, their attention turns to a strange, unsettling man named Albert Sparma, who becomes the prime suspect. Sparma’s creepy demeanor and knowledge of the case make him suspicious, but they lack concrete evidence to charge him. Deke, haunted by a similar case from his past, pushes the boundaries of the law, while Baxter finds himself drawn deeper into Deke’s obsessive and morally grey world.

The deeper they dig, the more Baxter realizes how haunted Deke truly isβ€”especially by his past mistakes and unsolved cases. Deke’s old demons begin to resurface, and he warns Baxter not to let the case destroy him the same way it did to him. The tension escalates as Baxter faces the same choices Deke once made, and the line between justice and obsession begins to blur.

In a chilling climax, Baxter makes a fateful decision that alters the course of his life. Deke, in turn, tries to shield him from the psychological toll by covering up the truth, repeating the same pattern that once led to his downfall. The Little Things ends with a haunting reminder that sometimes, it’s not the big momentsβ€”but the little thingsβ€”that linger and destroy from within.
